Five Features I Would Like to See

by - 8 years ago

With Season 5 now being live for a month, this is the time for the community to grind for sweet loot and for the developers to be in crunch time for the next season. There hasn’t been any talk from Blizzard about a patch 2.5 so we can only assume that’s what they are working on for a release with Season 6. So while we wait for more information, here’s a list of my top five most wanted features (Blizz plz).

5. Crafting Material Interface

Shortly before the release of Reaper of Souls the Diablo Team talked about changing crafting materials from physical items into something that more resembles a currency, similar to how gold and blood shards are stored. I think this would be a great quality of life change for the game as it would free up stash/inventory space, which comes at a premium nowadays. This is definitely something that I think can’t come soon enough.

If you would like to see a blue post regarding this topic you can check it out here. Unfortunately the original post is no longer available on the official forums so all we have is a quote.

4. Change Follower Items

This is something that I see talked about quite often around the community. As of right now followers are completely useless until you get the item that makes them invincible. Not only that but, the invincibility item is the only one that is useful for pushing content when playing solo because of Unity. So this renders the other follower items as an automatic forgotten soul.

I would like to see Blizzard move the invincibility perk for followers over to Unity (along with the current affix). Then add some more utility based ones, that way we can have more freedom when choosing which follower item to use instead of salvaging them.

3. More Clan Perks

This is another thing we’ve heard the Diablo Team talk about in the past. They acknowledged that Clans have the potential to add more to the social aspect of the game and even entertained the idea of Clan wide trading. I think it would be cool to see Clan trading or maybe a Clan wide stash that you can drop items into, instead of salvaging one that someone in your clan could get good use out of. Maybe with that feature I could finally manage to get two Unity’s for once in a season, since I have yet to do that.

2. Playable Necromancer Class

Now before a couple of weeks ago, I wouldn’t have listed this since I thought the Necro was too similar to the Witch Doctor. I have changed my mind after seeing Xul’s announcement for Heroes of the Storm. In HotS they are turning the Necro into a melee character that dual wields a scythe and a dagger, which got me thinking. Could turning the Necro into a melee class differentiate it enough to be added in a future expansion? I think so!

Scythes could be the Necros class weapon giving him the option to dual wield or use a two handed one. I think there’s a lot of potential there to make him different enough from the WD by turning him into a melee class that focuses on bone magic, poisons, and debuffs via curses. Daggers could possibly be useful again by making them a class weapon along with the scythe. Maybe at the very least we could get a Necro follower like Neinball suggested!

1. Rifts with Modifiers

Nephalem Rifts are my favorite activity in Diablo 3. I love going through completely random dungeons with boss fights in order to hunt down the items that I need. Even then I can’t help but feel there could be a bit more to them. Maybe something like Path of Exile’s map system or WoWs upcoming challenge mode dungeon system in Legion.

Challenge Mode The new challenge mode dungeons in Legion are a good example of what I’m talking about

These would have a timer like Greater Rifts but would also have different modifiers that give you buffs or debuffs in turn for better rewards. I would personally love something like this as it would add more depth and replayability to the Rift system. Since in my opinion, they still have loads of potential for more interesting end game content.

There you have it, my top five list of features that I’d like to see. Do you agree with this list? Or do you think I need to get my priorities straight? I would also like to hear what your top five features are down in the comments below!

Necro follower would be awesome, and it would also require blizz to remake current ones – assuming that necro main role would be to debuff similar to d2

  2. Vladimir Tess says:

I am sorry but D3 is a bit dead now. I can only paly in the inferno. Hope to start to play with someone as a new char is a dream. Hope d4 will be the new D2
