BlizzPro's Diablo

Well, looks like we didn’t have to wait until E3 for an announcement of Diablo III coming to the Xbox 360 (but I’m sure we’ll hear about it coming to the Xbox One at E3). Blizzard has also announced the release date for both versions of the console will release on September 3, 2013. Both versions of the console will have the pre-order bonus of the Infernal Helm which your level 1 characters will be able to wear and receive a +Experience bonus. You can order the Playstation 3 version here and the Xbox 360 version here. You can find the full announcement here. On September 3, evil will be reborn on console systems throughout the world with the release of Diablo® III on the PlayStation™ 3 and Xbox 360® games and entertainment system from Microsoft. That’s right, Diablo III will be unleashing hell on both Xbox 360 and PS3™ before summer’s end, so lock in ...

It’s been several months now since Diablo’s former game director, Jay Wilson, stepped down from the position. Since then there really hasn’t been a replacement although it seemed likely that Wyatt Cheng or Travis Day might be the ones to fill that position as they were the ones most active lately on the Diablo official forums and with their blogs on the state of the game. However, Blizzard has went with who was the lead designer for Diablo 3 for consoles – Josh Mosqueira. Our co-founder, Miaari, got a chance to meet Josh back in PAX East when they were showing off Diablo 3 for the Playstation 3 there and was able to sit down and interview him a bit about Diablo 3 on consoles. Based on our interaction with Josh and his opinions of the game it does seem like the right logical step to bring him on as ...

Amazon Sale: Diablo III for $39.99

by JR Cook on

If you missed it a couple weeks back – Amazon had Diablo III on sale for $34.99 which was the cheapest we have seen it. Today it is back on sale but not quite the $34.99 we saw it at – however, $20 off at $39.99 is nothing to scoff at. Diablo III is a couple weeks past the 1 year mark now and while it had some rocky beginnings the game is vastly different than when it was released – and for the better. I’ve recently picked it back up myself (after last time playing shortly after Paragon levels were introduced) and the game has a refreshing and familiar feel to it – similar to how I felt when I played Diablo 2. Is it perfect? Nope. Does it have that promised PvP yet? Nope. Is it worth $39.99 though? Hell yes. You can order your copy here. And ...

From the makers of Diablo III: Book of Cain, we have a new book coming out with a release date of October 1, 2013. Insight Editions and Blizzard Entertainment has teamed up once again to create a companion edition of Book of Cain called Diablo III: Book of Tyrael. For those that missed out on the Book of Cain (seriously, go buy it with the link I provided above), you have missed out on probably one of the best Diablo lore books that has ever been made. Not only is there tons of details in the book itself regarding Diablo lore and history, but the look and feel of the book is also amazing. It was meant to look and feel like Cain’s actual journal and it does a fantastic job as the pages themselves feel like they would have come out of a journal and all of the art ...

Last year with the release of Diablo 3 there was a small comic miniseries that Blizzard put out there with writer Aaron Williams and illustrator Joseph Lacroix called “Diablo: Sword of Justice”. The story was released in 5 comic books issues and took place 20 years after the events of Lord of Destruction and centered a bit around what was happening in the Dreadlands and Arreat Crater. The main character, Jacob, receives some visions of an ancient prophecy from Tyrael’s Sword and eventually leads him to the archangel himself. Much like the novel “The Order” written by Nate Kenyon, the comic book series was meant to bridge a gap between the 20 years between the end of Diablo 2 and the beginning of Diablo 3. Aaron Williams is one of my favorite comic artists/writers, but the stuff I really like from him is his comedy – so to see his ...

Microsoft showed off the goods today (or didn’t, depending on your opinion) with their next generation console reveal event, A New Generation Revealed. The debate on just what the new console would be called finally came to a close, with Microsoft ultimately deciding to throw a curve ball at the gaming world. No, it’s not the Fusion, the Infinity, or even the 720. The next chapter in the Xbox saga will be the Xbox One. Sure, there are probably some reasons for the choice, but for the vast majority of us, it was a confusing decision. The hour long Microsoft party saw some big names in gaming take to the stage discussing Xbox One’s myriad of home entertainment features. Nearly halfway through, games were finally discussed. Diablo III would not be mentioned, however. Electronic Arts showed off the future of sports video games with franchises such as Madden, FIFA, UFC ...

Tomorrow should answer a lot of questions about the next generation Microsoft console. Like, what is it actually going to be called? Will Microsoft be following the ill-fated always online business model? What sort of innovations can we expect to see? There’s also a chance that Microsoft could shed some light as to the circumstances surrounding a possible Diablo III port for the next generation console. There’s been no shortage of rumors on the matter, but hard evidence could come as soon as tomorrow, when Microsoft hosts their live reveal event. That said, it still might be a while before we have confirmation. Tomorrow’s event is said to be focusing more on the actual hardware, while E3 will be dedicated to discussing the myriad of games coming out for it. Blizzard has already discussed the process of porting the game to the PlayStation 4, even citing how developer friendly it’s ...

Were you one of the lucky winners of our Diablo 3 giveaways sponsored by SteelSeries? Maybe you’ve been hearing the hoopla surrounding the Diablo 3 one year birthday and are finally interested in the game. Well, if you waited to get Diablo 3 this long, there’s some good news for you. Sony recently sat down with some members of the Diablo III development team, namely Production Manager John Hight, Lead Console Designer Josh Mosqueira and Senior System Designer Jason Bender and discussed the upcoming console port of Diablo III in a Conversations with the Creators video. In it, the trio discussed a number of different topics including why the title was selected to be ported, how the PlayStation 4 controller will influence the gameplay and the challenges of streamlining the experience without dumbing it down. You can take a look at the seven minute video below: Hight made a point in the interview to discuss the fact that the ‘architecture of the PlayStation 4’ should make it easier for game developers such as Blizzard to get games out more speedily, and into the hands of gamers. While it’s speculation, could Hight be hinting that Blizzard is looking to create more regular ...
