Diablo III: Book of Tyrael Pre-order

by JR Cook on

We announced a few weeks ago the new Insight Editions book “Diablo III: Book of Tyrael“ which is a follow up to the highly successful “Diablo III: Book of Cain”. As of right now the Book of Tyrael is on pre-order on Amazon for $28.54 and is set to release October 1, 2013. The Book of Cain is by far one of my favorite Blizzard books I have ever owned, it has great lore value in it and the look and feel of the book is pretty awesome. I’ve gotten comments on it from friends who aren’t even Diablo fans about how neat it is. I expect the same kind of quality from the Book of Tyrael and it should be a definite pick up. Book Description One of the most exciting and visceral action role-playing games in recent memory, Diablo® has become a worldwide gaming phenomenon. Diablo III: Book of Tyrael takes fans ...

Diablo 3 at E3 Roundup

by JR Cook on

It’s been over a week now since E3, but we have a ton of information we wish to share with everyone. This is pretty much everything we thought was interesting that came our of E3 for Diablo 3 on consoles. The Interviews The fansite Diablo.somepage.com was there at E3 and had a chance to interview Josh Mosquiera, Kevin Martens, and Travis Day regarding Diablo 3 on consoles. It was a three part interview which can be found here, here, and here. Some of the things revealed in the interview are as followed: The itemization patch will not be released until after BlizzCon. They’re wanting to do a full overhaul of itemization so they’re taking their time on it. All Legendary Items will have unique properties on them. This might include things like having a treasure goblin that follows your character that sometimes throws the player magical items after picking up ...

All good things come in threes. So we have the Diablo 3 Playstation 3 version at E3 and they gave us a pretty cool demo of how multiplayer is going to work for consoles. I don’t care what your thoughts are on the Diablo 3 PC version, I think the console version looks like serious fun. I remember the days of Nintendo 64 and playing the heck out of Gauntlet Legends with my friends for hours on end on the couch and this looks like it’s going to recreate the same kind of feeling. Not many Action RPGs have been able to pull this off for consoles but I think we definitely have a winner here and I’m willing to bet this will be one of the best games Blizzard will have ever released for consoles. Preorder: Diablo III for Playstation 3 on Amazon – Release date Sept. 3, 2013 With ...

Interested in winning a custom Diablo III skin for your PlayStation 3? Blizzard’s giving away 50 of them to those of us not attending E3 tomorrow. All you have to do is wait for the Diablo III console developers to take to the Sony stage and then follow the instructions below. It’s not guaranteed, but some chance is definitely better than no chance, and it’s a pretty sweet consolation prize for those unable to attend the gaming convention. Attendees who stop by the Activision and Sony booths at E3 this year to try out our multiplayer demo of Diablo III have the chance to walk away with a sweet PS3 skin bearing the D3 logo. (Pretty snazzy, huh?) Rather than just let this be an E3-exclusive item, we want to give players at home the opportunity to score this loot, too! So, if you’d like to try your fate at ...

A friend of mine was watching the Sony E3 press conference and during a small segment he saw something in the middle of the screen that caught his eye and he asked me if I saw it, too. I did not, but I went back to look, and sure enough – in the middle of the screen is the original Diablo game art. You can see the segment at the 12:23 mark here: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/34147623 So what does this mean? Most likely nothing – but you never know. You’ll probably remember that Diablo was released on the original Playstation, so is it possible we might see Diablo be released at some point as a digital download on the Playstation Network? With Diablo 3 coming to the console it’s a pretty real possibility. Heck, maybe we’ll even see a revamped version? Maybe new controls and online support? Either way, chalk this up as ...

We already talked yesterday about the PlayStation exclusive items coming to Diablo 3, but today Blizzard has announced some new preorder bonuses as well. In addition to the Infernal Helm which gives you an experience bonus on your characters you can now get Angelic Wings, Bottled Cloud Dye, and Bottled Smoke Dye. These items are basically the same thing that anyone ordering the Collector’s Edition or Digital Deluxe Edition for the PC would have received – purely cosmetic in nature items and both will be available in the Playstation 3 and Xbox360 versions. The exclusive items have also been revealed for the Playstation 3. The Hero’s Journey, Drake’s Amulet,  Crimson Angelic Wings are all cosmetic in nature. However, Leroic’s Gauntlet will summon a skeleton to help you fight and Leah’s Ring is a level 60 item that will buff your magic find, gold find, movement speed, and defenses. These items ...

E3 is currently in full force and today we got to see the press announcements from both Microsoft for the Xbox One and Sony for the PlayStation 4. During the Sony press briefing we got to hear from Adam Boyes on some Diablo 3 news. The PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions of Diablo 3 will have exclusive items that are inspired by other PlayStation games and franchises such as Uncharted and Journey. Some of these items would be something like Drake’s Amulet from Uncharted and shoulder braces inspired by Journey. The PlayStation 4 was priced to be at $399 ($100 cheaper than the Xbox One) and is planned to be out later this year. You can preorder it right now on Amazon....

Well, looks like we didn’t have to wait until E3 for an announcement of Diablo III coming to the Xbox 360 (but I’m sure we’ll hear about it coming to the Xbox One at E3). Blizzard has also announced the release date for both versions of the console will release on September 3, 2013. Both versions of the console will have the pre-order bonus of the Infernal Helm which your level 1 characters will be able to wear and receive a +Experience bonus. You can order the Playstation 3 version here and the Xbox 360 version here. You can find the full announcement here. On September 3, evil will be reborn on console systems throughout the world with the release of Diablo® III on the PlayStation™ 3 and Xbox 360® games and entertainment system from Microsoft. That’s right, Diablo III will be unleashing hell on both Xbox 360 and PS3™ before summer’s end, so lock in ...

It’s been several months now since Diablo’s former game director, Jay Wilson, stepped down from the position. Since then there really hasn’t been a replacement although it seemed likely that Wyatt Cheng or Travis Day might be the ones to fill that position as they were the ones most active lately on the Diablo official forums and with their blogs on the state of the game. However, Blizzard has went with who was the lead designer for Diablo 3 for consoles – Josh Mosqueira. Our co-founder, Miaari, got a chance to meet Josh back in PAX East when they were showing off Diablo 3 for the Playstation 3 there and was able to sit down and interview him a bit about Diablo 3 on consoles. Based on our interaction with Josh and his opinions of the game it does seem like the right logical step to bring him on as ...

Amazon Sale: Diablo III for $39.99

by JR Cook on

If you missed it a couple weeks back – Amazon had Diablo III on sale for $34.99 which was the cheapest we have seen it. Today it is back on sale but not quite the $34.99 we saw it at – however, $20 off at $39.99 is nothing to scoff at. Diablo III is a couple weeks past the 1 year mark now and while it had some rocky beginnings the game is vastly different than when it was released – and for the better. I’ve recently picked it back up myself (after last time playing shortly after Paragon levels were introduced) and the game has a refreshing and familiar feel to it – similar to how I felt when I played Diablo 2. Is it perfect? Nope. Does it have that promised PvP yet? Nope. Is it worth $39.99 though? Hell yes. You can order your copy here. And ...
