Diabolic Evolution: Izual

by threedaysjpt on

Throughout the years, Diablo and the world around him have continued to change and evolve. With each new era, we are introduced to a brand new vision of what Hell and Sanctuary really are. Now, we fight in a world so extensive and complex that it is hard to believe that we started our journey in tiny little Tristram. Let us glance back into the past and remember that which was forgotten and realize the path it has taken to the reality of today. And once again here we are with another edition of Diabolic Evolution, taking a nostalgic look at the reoccurring aspects that we all know and love. This week we shall look at another angel of the High Heavens, Izual. As Tyrael’s Lieutenant, he played a huge part in the lore of Sanctuary even before we met him in Diablo II roaming Pandemonium. Unfortunately, we didn’t get

Let us glance back into the past and remember that which was forgotten and realize the path it has taken to the reality of today. Here we are once again, to take our nostalgic look back at the past of Diablo. This week we shall feature who is personally my favorite character of the whole series, Tyrael. He is a winged warrior for heaven, the (former) Archangel of Justice has been our link to heaven throughout the last two games, giving us a glimpse of the might and power it controls.

Welcome to the first edition of Diabolic Evolution. Every other week we shall take a look back and compare how things have evolved since those times long gone. Many of the most iconic parts of Diablo have transcended through each game, allowing us to feel the nostalgia that many of us crave, while also seeing how it all has grown. This first week, we will look at

Hello everyone and welcome back to BlizzPro! My name is Dannie “IAmDiR23” Ray 23, and If you are familiar with my work, you know that I mainly dabble in theorycrafting and game mechanics. But today I’ll take a 180 degree turn as I’m joined by GiantSequoia, a lore enthusiast. Today we will talk about the amazing story gems that can be found on both enemy lore entries, and the different Books scattered through Sanctuary. But first of all, let our guest introduce himself. GS: Hello everyone! My name’s Mike, aka giant-sequoia. I live in Ontario, Canada, and I’ve been an avid reader and writer for as long as I can remember. I’ve been a gamer for most of my life as well, since I was eight (I’m now 25). Blizzard’s games were among the first I ever played, and I’ve been hooked ever since. My preferred platform is the PC,

Blizzard’s publishing lead Micky Neilson just announced a new Diablo III novella, entitled Morbed, that will be coming out towards the end of April. The novella will be a digital release only that you can find on . The story will follow the adventures of a thief named Morbed, for whom the novella is named after as he travels to a remote island to recover valuable possessions that were stolen from Westmarch. Alongside Morbed will be a wizard, a druid, a necromancer, and a crusader. Not much is known about Morbed and even less is know about his companions. We do know that Morbed owns an enchanted lantern that he always keeps shackled to his wrist for some reason and that he shares some connection to the companions he is travelling with. I have some thoughts about the story that I’ll include after the book description and invite you to share

Reaper of Souls Preview: Pandemonium

by Zenstyle on

The original Diablo II boasted a number of exciting and iconic zones. Marshes, deserts, jungles, and of course, the surreal and nightmarish battlefield known as Pandemonium. The fabled warzone will be returning in Reaper of Souls and lore aficionado Nevalistis took to the official Diablo blog to give players some insight on what to expect in the coming days. The last vestiges of an endless battle echo across the decimated terrain of an ancient crossroads. Once the epicenter of the Eternal Conflict, the war-torn fields that stretch before you now are eerily silent, save for the occasional scuffle of straggling soldiers and primordial scavengers that have made the best of this inhospitable expanse. An abandoned fortress looms chillingly in the distance. Previously an outpost that stood as the last bastion of the Light before the Gates of the Burning Hells, it now houses a threat unlike any before. Welcome to Pandemonium. The Epitome of

Before the launch of the original Diablo III, Blizzard had put together a small event to help provide depth to the new heroes joining the fight against evil. This event, known as “Heroes Rise, Darkess Falls”, included an amazing collection of short stories covering all of the original classes. Each one of the stories touched on what it meant to be that particular class, how they reacted to threats, what they believed in and what they feared. With the new Crusader class being added in Reaper of Souls a new short story will be joining the collection to give a look into what it means to don the armor and take up the name of one of these holy warriors. We’ve been given a small preview today of the short story “The End of Her Journey” by Robert Brooks and we can already see that this Crusader is fearless in

Following hot on the heels of the big Crusader lore article today CM Nevalistis provided a lengthy Q&A on the history of the Crusade. All last week the Diablo team was taking your Crusader related questions on Twitter and now we finally have the answers! Some of the information had actually been provided previously in the Book of Tyrael, but a lot of the questions focused on the source of the Crusader’s powers and on the nature of their Crusade. If you’re looking for more info fret not, this is only the beginning. Nevalistis makes it clear that they’ll be sharing tons of more Crusader info all this week as we lead up to the coming of Death on March 25th. Last week, we asked followers of @Diablo to send us their burning questions about Crusader lore and history. After pouring through all the wonderful tweets we received in response, we then worked

As Josh Mosquiera and the development team stated when Reaper of Souls was first unveiled that fateful day at Gamescom, the Crusader is the star of the hour in this expansion. Many fans were speculating (and perhaps expecting) there to be two offerings in the way of new classes to choose from. Not this time; the Crusader is man/woman enough to fill the expanse all on its own. The hype train continues to chug along, with Reaper of Souls a tad bit over two weeks away. Community Manager Nevalistis, in her never ending quest to prepare us for what’s to come, has laid down a beautiful blog post, rich with everything you could ever want to know or even fathom to ask regarding the history and lore of the Crusader. For those of you looking to fully embrace the light come March 25th – and for those of you who don’t

Nearly two thousand years ago the lands of Sanctuary were thrown into chaos during the Mage Clan Wars. In order to save themselves during the war the beleaguered Vizjerei clan fell back on its trump card, demons. With hordes of demonic soldiers at their beck and call the Vizjerei mages quickly fought back the rival clans, devastating anyone who stood against them. The Vizjerei’s windfall was short lived as the schism formed within the clan and a civil war broke out between their two most powerful mages, the brothers Bartuc and Horazon. The war between the two brothers left the Vizjerei in ruins. After Bartuc was defeated and Horazon retreated into a self-imposed exile what remained of the Vizjerei leadership quickly decided that the corrupting influence of the denizens of the Burning Hells was too dangerous to ever risk using again. As they began to rebuild their clan the Ruling
