Blizzard announced today the release date of the first season for console players (PS4 and Xbox One) of Diablo 3, which was announced at BlizzCon. Starting Friday March 31st console players will be able to enjoy season just like PC players have (including the Rebirth option). A Diablo Developer Talk and Q&A was on the panel stage at Blizzcon. It consisted of several developers, including : Kevin Martens – Lead Game Designer Wyatt Cheng – Senior Game Designer Adam Phul – Senior Game Designer Joe Shely – Senior Game Designer Travis Day – Senior Game Designer The Developer Talk wasted no time in getting down to business, starting with details about the seasons coming to console. While Seasons will work like how seasons work on PC, there will be some key differences. Some features like Haedrig’s gifts and season journeys will be almost verbatim out of how PC seasons are designed. Certain rewards will appear at different times then they would for PC users, while the leaderboards will be console specific to the Xbox One and the PS4. Yesterday, the Ultimate Evil Edition of Diablo III for the Playstation and Xbox platforms celebrated its one year anniversary. To celebrate, the community team released a template to print out the Happy Reaper Party Hat and they are asking players to show them your creations. So grab the image below and take to your favorite social media to show the Diablo team how you plan on celebrating Blizzard’s triumphant return to consoles. Playstation Experience will be in Las Vegas December 6-7 and Diablo 3 game director Josh Mosquiera will be there. The following video is of Josh talking about the Ultimate Evil Edition for the PS4 and that they will be announcing new features for it at the Playstation Experience. Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls is now available on consoles. While the original game has been around on the Playstation and Xbox since last September, the new Ultimate Evil Edition includes both the original and the expansion. It can be played now on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One (the poor little Wii U appears to be suffering from its reputation as a young person’s console here). The PS4 and Xbox One editions can look forward to ongoing patch updates, while all console owners will be able to move existing characters to the UEE – even if their original game is on a different platform. As we reported last week, you will be able to transfer your character from the base Diablo 3 console game into the Ultimate Evil Edition. Now all the official details have been released, learn what you have to do keep playing your old character once you get the new game.
If you've been enjoying Diablo 3 on the console and were worried about losing your progress when switching to the Ultimate Evil Edition, fear no more. CM Lylirra just confirmed character transfers for the Ultimate Evil Edition, these transfers will allow you to keep your character even if you got the next generation console of the opposite brand that you previously had.
