Season 6 Haedrig’s Gift Sets & Guide

by - 8 years ago

Late last Wednesday, the PTR (Patch Test Realm) for 2.4.1 received an update that ended Season 5 and pushed Season 6 live. As a result, we got an advance look at what to expect for the coming season and that, in turn, revealed which sets each class can expect to earn through Haedrig’s Gift.

If you’re unfamiliar with Haedrig’s Gift, this new reward was introduced in Season 5 and serves as an expedited way to grant players a pre-selected 6-piece set at the beginning of each season. In Season 6, you will earn three Haedrig’s Gift rewards. Each reward grants you two pieces of your set with the 3rd reward granting some classes three pieces if the set being offered to them contains seven pieces (an off-hand, weapon, etc.).

Seasonal Journey Objectives To Complete

  • Raise a character to level 70
  • Defeat Izual on Torment II difficulty at level 70
  • Complete a Greater Rift 20 solo

When you complete any of the objectives listed above, one of the Haedrig’s Gift rewards will be mailed to your character. You can check your mail at the bottom left of your screen. There should be an in-game call out the first time you earn one that points you to the specific location of the mail icon. Please note that you can only receive a Haedrig’s Gift for each achievement once per season, so if you plan to play Softcore and Hardcore or multiple characters, choose wisely which mode and class you go with first. Also note that you can complete these objectives in any order, even if they don’t appear as one of the objectives for the page of the Seasonal Journey you’re on.

I recommend playing in a coordinated, four-player party to start the season, which should make getting to level 70 take only a few hours and which should also allow you to instantly move up to Torment II to kill Izual. Once your party has earned the first four pieces of your sets, you should then up the difficulty to Torment IV, complete a regular Nephalem rift, and hope for a Greater Rift keystone to drop off of the rift guardian. Beating a Torment IV normal rift will unlock Greater Rift 20 so that you can all split up into solo games directly after completing the regular rift and hopefully get your last Haedrig’s Gift after you clear Greater Rift 20 by yourself.

Class Sets Rewarded

The sets noted above are the current rewards on the PTR, but note that anything on the PTR is always subject to change.

Strategy

Ideally, you should pick which class you prioritize based on which is your favorite to play or which you plan to use the most during the season. However, choosing certain classes will set you up to farm faster in the early season days and, therefore, help you find other sets as well as materials and Blood Shards faster.

In terms of utility and overall usefulness, I believe that the Barbarian, Demon Hunter, and Monk are receiving the best sets this season.

Raekor’s empowering of Furious Charge will allow you to quickly clear rifts by virtue of continually moving and dealing damage at the same time.

Marauder is a little slower since you have to set your Sentries up, but once they’re out there, your power grows exponentially. It’s also an incredibly flexible set since you can use a Manticore, Kridershot, Dawn, or Yang’s Recurve and still pump out damage with various skills.

Inna’s set profits from allowing your pets to take center stage and also provides you with a chance to get a best-in-slot weapon before any of your friends, since your Inna’s Reach (and any piece granted by Haedrig’s Gift, for that matter) could pop out as an Ancient Legendary.

Good luck to you in Season 6! Let me know which class you’ll be rolling and how you plan to approach your first few days in the new season when it goes live sometime in the near future.

The hover box for the Barbarian set shows the Crusader set info.

Any character that reaches level 70, or just seasonal characters? Because I hit 70 on my wizard around 2 weeks ago and never got the two set pieces.
