Major Ban Wave Removes Botters From Leaderboards

by - 8 years ago

Earlier this afternoon, a light din turned into a furious roar as several members of the Diablo community began to notice a change in the Leaderboards. A quick visit to Reddit, streams, and Twitter pages quickly confirmed that a ban wave had gone out.

Desolacer also put together this short video that goes over an easy way to detect who was removed from the boards and illustrates a “before and after” comparison of some of the different Leaderboards.

As many have exclaimed previously, botting is a serious detriment to the competitive aspects and fair play surrounding Leaderboards, so this action by Blizzard is not only long requested, but, personally speaking, long overdue. We can only hope that this becomes a steady response season after season so that the players whose names deserve to be at the top can rightfully claim their spots. It’s also worth noting that this is impeccable timing, as we anticipate Season 5 to wrap up in the next two to three weeks. This makes it all but impossible for any of the banned account owners to repurchase the game and bot their way back to the top. Good luck to those of you newly galvanized to tackle Greater Rifts once again and push for your best clears yet.

i care. who wants cheaters playing and getting away with taking spots on the leader boards that should belong to valid players?
