Cosmetic Wings In Patch 2.4.1 PTR Will Be Removed

Those of you who made your way into the Patch Test Realm (PTR) for Patch 2.4.1 may have noticed that there’s a bit of buzz around new cosmetics that are randomly dropping in the world of Sanctuary. Forum MVP Monstrous personally dinged me on one of the first nights of PTR to let me know that reports were popping up in the forums and then he was able to confirm the findings himself, as seen below:

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like these wings are long for this world, as both Community Manager Nevalistis and Senior Technical Game Designer Wyatt Cheng took to various sites to explain that things on PTR are subject to change and these wings are being cut.
It’s great to see all this excitement over these new items. We’re very interested in hearing your feedback!
Just want to poke my head in here and add in as a reminder that, as always, PTR is subject to change. We’re testing out a few things, including types of cosmetics and how they can be acquired. Some of these items may go live, and some of them might not, and we may change how or where you find some of them. We appreciate those of you who are taking the time to track these things down and give them a try!

I will elaborate on Nevalistis’ post by explicitly stating that we are not currently happy with how these wings are obtained. In particular we feel that they step too much on existing wings such as collector’s edition and Set Dungeons. While we would like to see more wings in the game than what is currently available, expect to see the ones currently on the PTR to be removed soon.
While these wings seem to be flying the coop, it’s yet to be determined whether other cosmetics like the Whimseyshire portrait frame will also be cut, will remain as is, or will move to a different drop method/reward system. This is a good time to remember that getting too attached to any of the specifics in the early stages of the PTR can sometimes lead to heartache when changes come.
