Ars Arcanum: Blade of the Tribes

by - 8 years ago

Books have often been society’s only bastion of light for passing along knowledge that would otherwise be lost to time or convoluted by the oral tradition. In order to provide new and old adventurers with as much knowledge of what to expect on their journey in Sanctuary, we created this tome of knowledge – Ars Arcanum. We will regularly feature a Legendary weapon or armor piece, discussing its stand-alone powers and capabilities, as well as how it may synergize with new builds or other item

Hello everyone, as you probably already know Patch 2.4.0 went live this week and the start of Season 5 is upon us! With the launch of the next season later tonight, I thought it would be a good idea to go over the new Barbarian mighty weapon, Blade of the Tribes. This new weapon is sure to make all of you earthquake loving berserkers out there happy and is in my opinion, one of the most fun Barbarian weapons in the game thus far. So lets get into what makes this weapon awesome.

Blade of the Tribes

Why is it good?

Blade of the Tribes is the best in slot weapon for the new Leapquake build that came with the updated Might of the Earth set. With it equipped, you cause an earthquake and avalanche every time you use either War Cry or Threatening Shout. This synergizes rather nicely with MotE since it gives you the potential for even more earthquakes on top of the three you get from Leap+Lutsocks and the EQ ability itself (you want it slotted to control which rune your EQ’s use).

Might of the Earth

  • (2) Set:
  • Reduce the cooldown of Earthquake, Avalanche, Leap, and Ground Stomp by 1 second for every 30 Fury you spend with an attack.
  • (4) Set:
  • Leap causes an Earthquake when you land. Additionally, Leap gains the effect of the Iron Impact rune and the rune’s effect and duration are increased by 150%.
  • (6) Set:
  • Increase the damage of Earthquake, Avalanche, Leap, Ground Stomp, Ancient Spear and Seismic Slam by 800%.

When you look at the set bonuses for MotE, you can really see why this weapon is key to this build. With an 800% damage bonus to both EQ and Avalanche, you will be able to output some insane damage and take out elite packs/bosses with ease. From what I saw on the PTR, this new Leapquake build got up to around Greater Rift 80 with the potential to go even higher. So if you’re planning on playing a Barbarian this season, this is definitely a good build option because it’s fast paced and tons of fun. I’ll be rolling a one since it’s my favorite class and EQ is one of my favorite abilities in the game.

Who is it good for?

Since this is a Mighty Weapon, it can only be used by Barbarians.

Where can I find it?

Since there are no more season exclusive items, you can find this on any mode as long as you are playing a Barbarian!

The Fluff

Mountains crumble. Cliffs fall. Canyons rip asunder. The forces that shape the land are a mystery to most. But not to you. Not anymore.
