Overwatch: Origins & World of Warcraft: Legion Cosmetics Available In-Game

by - 8 years ago

If you’re a cosmetics fan or an adamant collector in Diablo, you’re going to need to diversify your collection of Blizzard games immediately! With the release of Patch 2.4.0 yesterday, a couple of cross-promotional cosmetic items were made available for immediate wear on your characters. Those who purchased the Digital Deluxe edition of World of Warcraft‘s next expansion, Legion, were granted the Wings of the Betrayer as well as a Demon Hunter-styled (WoW version, not to be confused with the Demon Hunters of Sanctuary) helm transmog. You can find a detailed write up along with imagery below.

But wait! There’s more. For those of you that can remember back to BlizzCon 2015, it was revealed that purchasing the Origins edition of Overwatch would result in a cross-promotional cosmetic reward by way of Mercy’s wings. Well, it turns out that console players don’t even have to purchase the game and they can get them right now! Continue to read on below for Community Manager Kauza’s write up on how console players can take advantage of this sweet bonus.

Digital Deluxe Edition – Pets, Mounts, and More

In addition to the Standard Edition, the new expansion is available in a Digital Deluxe Edition, which contains a cache of Legion-inspired in-game bonuses for World of Warcraft and other Blizzard games (available upon or before the expansion’s launch), including:

  • World of Warcraft – Illidari Felstalker Mount and Nibbles Pet—Stalk the invading demonic forces atop one of the Burning Legion’s own twisted hounds of war, and summon a delightfully demented companion to keep you warm by the fel fire—both available immediately upon pre-purchase.
  • Heroes of the Storm – Felstalker Mount—Charge down the lanes of the Nexus and wreak havoc on the opposing team astride this fierce fanged terror.
  • StarCraft II – Fel Protoss Portraits—Take back Aiur in infernal style with psionic-infused StarCraft II portraits of Illidan and Gul’dan.
  • Diablo III – Wings of the Betrayer—Equip your hero with Illidan’s wings and strike terror into the hearts of Sanctuary’s demons.
  • NEW! Diablo III – Demon Hunter Helm Transmog—Complete your fel-infused look with the new Demon Hunter helm transmog. Just add wings and you’ll be the true terror of Sanctuary.

Visit the Battle.net Shop to learn more about everything the Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions have to offer.

*Players upgrading from World of Warcraft Starter Edition must wait for trial restrictions to be removed (up to 72 hours) before using character boost. Demon Hunter early access timing will be announced at a later date. Only one Demon Hunter per realm; requires at least one level 70 character on realm. Legion launch in summer 2016 (winter 2016 in regions in southern hemisphere).

Mercy Wings Now Available On Xbox One and Playstation 4

This item is available at no additional cost to players who own Diablo® III: Reaper of Souls™ – Ultimate Evil Edition™ on PS4 and XB1 and can be claimed by linking their Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) or Xbox Live (XBL) account with their Battle.net account.

Q. How do I link my Sony Entertainment Network and/or Xbox Live account with my Battle.net account?

To link your SEN account:

Step 1: Create an SEN account, if you don’t already have one.
Step 2: Visit http://battle.net/playstation.
Step 3: Log in to Battle.net with your account, or create a new Battle.net account.
Step 4: Press “Continue.” You will be redirected to Sony.
Step 5: Log in to your SEN account.

To link your XBL account:

Step 1: Create an XBL account, if you don’t already have one.
Step 2: Visit http://battle.net/xbox.
Step 3: Log in to Battle.net with your account, or create a new Battle.net account.
Step 4: Press “Continue.” You will be redirected to Microsoft.
Step 5: Log in to the XBL account.

Success! Your SEN and/or XBL accounts are now linked with your Battle.net account.

Q. Will I have to link both of my Console accounts to my Battle.net account in order to get the Mercy Wings on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

No. You do not need to link both accounts.

If you link your SEN account, you will receive the Mercy Wings on PS4.
If you link your XBL account, you will receive the Mercy Wings on XB1.

Q. How do I claim the Mercy Wings after linking my account(s)?

To claim your Mercy Wings, simply log in to Ultimate Evil Edition on PS4 or XB1 and create a new game. Once you’re in-game, open your Inventory. Under the miscellaneous “Bag” category, you should find the item “Mercy’s Gaze” containing the Mercy Wings in the “Items” tab.

If you do not see the Wings right away, exit the game and wait a few minutes before re-logging.

Q. Why are the Mercy Wings available at no cost to players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One?

Due to restrictions with the way certain licenses (like cross-game promotional items) can integrate with our games on PS4 and XB1, players who purchase Overwatch™: Origins Edition are unable to claim the Mercy Wings bonus item in Ultimate Evil Edition on those platforms.

While these players will be able to redeem the Origins Editions bonus items—including the Mercy Wings—on PC and Mac when they become available, we still wanted to find a way to let our community enjoy the Wings on PS4 and XB1.

After some research, we found that we could offer the Mercy Wings as a reward for linking an SEN or XBL account with a Battle.net account. Though this solution makes the Wings available to all Ultimate Evil Edition players on PS4 and XB1 (and not just to those who had purchased Overwatch: Origins Edition), we think it’s the fairest option available.

Please note that the Mercy Wings are not yet available in the PC and Mac version of Diablo III, and that you will need to purchase Overwatch: Origins Edition to claim them on that platform. We don’t have a date for when the Mercy Wings will be available on PC/Mac, but will be sure to keep players updated as info becomes available.

Q. If I claim the Mercy Wings on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, can I still receive them on PC if I purchase Overwatch: Origins Edition?

Absolutely. If you purchase Overwatch: Origins Edition (on any platform), you will be eligible for the Mercy Wings on PC/Mac. Claiming the wings on console will not affect this.
