Wishful Wednesdays: Subject to Change

by - 8 years ago

Angels and demons are bound to their natures. Demons are given to chaos and deceit; angels to truth and order. That much is known …The Nephalem alone have choice. ~Archangel Itherael.

Welcome to Wishful Wednesdays where we will attempt to show some ideas from fellow Nephalem who want to see something added to the game: whether that be builds that need items to make them work, a new or revamped mode of game-play that they would enjoy, holiday buffs or just QoL improvements.

With the PTR for 2.4 out, there are a lot of people testing many of the great changes that this patch adds. As is the case with anything someone’s passionate about though there are a lot of suggestions for how the game can be improved.

Classes:

Endeavor started a forum post on the Might of the Earth and Legacy of Raekor rework in the feedback forums.  The summary is that both sets are missing the sustainability that the HoTA build can attain. They may also need some damage tweaking to compete. Tao suggests adding some recovery while standing in Earthquake as a possible solution for the Might of Earth healing problems.

Right now, the Thorns of the Invoker is in a real strong spot but that’s not the only set the Crusader’s have. Leviathan gave some feedback on the Akkhan set rework. He says the damage rework is great but the defense is lacking. Unlike most sets it does not have a built in damage reduction. It does lower the cooldown on Akarat’s Champion which, with Prophet as the rune, can be used to offset that. But, that is not enough of a bonus to go above a Greater Rift 60 reliably.

Demon Hunter’s get a melee weapon set with this patch: The Shadow’s Mantle. casmiel has a lot of feedback for it, both positive and negative. It’s apparently a fun set, in his opinion, that has a good balance of toughness, sustainability and damage. The weapons are not currently able to be gambled so you have to use the cube recipe or hope for drops. The fact that you can’t dualwield and the offhand options do not have powers that have synergy for the set seem to be the major problem for the set as is.

As most people know I’ve been waiting for a Tempest Rush build and it’s finally here! But, the best setup atm is not the Monkey King’s Garb, which adds a buff to Tempest Rush, but the remade Inna’s set mostly because of the defense. Daviok has a detailed post about the new Monkey King’s Garb set for Monks. The major issue is that the 6 set bonus uses your defense from the 2 set to increase damage so you have a roller-coaster of being tough and doing damage to having neither if your Sweeping Winds stacks drop off. This is particularly noticeable at the start of a rift that has monsters at the door. With no time to ramp up the Sweeping Wind stacks using the new belt it makes that case very dangerous very fast as you do not have your damage or toughness until you can get them. Even at max stacks though it seems to lack toughness if you do a build that requires you to be up close.

One of the most consistent feedback items for the Witch Doctor is that Zunimassa’s Vision hasn’t received any love. When the original rework was done to this set in Patch 2.2 it was with the intent that the pet doctor would finally get a set to focus on. But, now there’s Legacy of Nightmares:

This set is getting a major nerf on the PTR soon, but even with it nerfed there are a lot of non set legendaries for Witch Doctors that focus on pet builds and will have, arguably, better bonuses than the set. There are a lot of suggestions on the forums including; making it a sacrifice build suggested by Ishkabibble or buffing the damage portion of the set as seen by Xrystus‘s post.

I’ve been playing a lot of the Firebird’s Disintegrate Wizard on PTR and think it’s in a good place. Even with the massively over-powered Legacy of Nightmares set the Firebird’s channeling is still competitive. What I have a problem with is farming; after killing the RG on TX there might be one white mob still trying to hit you and there’s no power on one white mob. This is not a problem with Greater Rifts obviously so it’s not a major detriment although I’d like to see stacks stay for a second or two just for that purpose, not so long that it’s too OP but not instant disappearance of power that it has right now. I’d also like to see the Etched Sigil’s power work with Tal Rasha’s bonuses.

With the current iteration you can put multiple spells on your bars and it will randomly proc any of them but it does not count as “casting” them so does not spawn different meteor types or increase your resistances except for the one you’re channeling.

QoL:

They have added a lot of Quality of Life changes.

One of them is allowing you to see the comparison of an item on the follower: Screenshot124

There’s a couple of things that could use a fix for this feature IMO. One, it will only show the comparison for the left ring when you should be able to press alt to switch, this is true even if you try to compare the same ring type as the right ring so that Unity will compare against a Justice Lantern if that’s what’s in the left even if you can’t equip in that spot because it’s unique equipped in the right. Also, you can not compare items in the stash or while salvaging because both windows cover the follower’s unit frame.

Another major Quality of Life change, and probably the best change, is stash space. You will be able to eventually get up to ten tabs by season 8 which will be in about a year if the three month season goal continues past season 5. Besides the sixth tab, which you will be able to buy as soon as the patch goes live, you will have to do part of the seasonal journey to acquire. This takes some of the hype out of another change: no more seasonal exclusive legendaries. It will really depend on what part of the journey this tab is awarded from. The original plan mentioned was at the end of the journey which is a lot to play for someone who doesn’t enjoy seasons, even with the rebirth option, but apparently is still being decided. As season 5 is not on the PTR yet we will have to see what they decide on. Another minor issue is the clunkiness of switching between the first five tabs and the second. This is NOT a major issue at all, as anyone that wished for more stash tabs (everyone) would much rather have clunky and more than neither. But, if it’s possible to shrink down/add new column or even do a mouse wheel scroll as two options presented by DanielShawn and Mugsy in a forum post earlier this week I think it would be appreciated.

Have something you wish would be added to the game? Whether you have ideas on how to make a build work, a mode of game-play you’d like to see changed or an improvement added to the general game, I’d love to hear about it.
