Allo Allo! Welcome one and all to another edition of the Horadrim Corner. This week we are going to feature a build with a little bit of nostalgia to it for all you D2 players, the Hammerdin Crusader. Many people were super excited when Blizzard announced the new Seeker of the Light set, allowing the screen to be come a tornado of spinning hammers. Naturally this has become the most popular Crusader build of the season. Now without further ado, here it is:
Actives
Falling Sword – Rapid Descent: A fantastic skill when you are in a tight spot or when you need to jump from mob group to mob group. Rapid Descent will just help you do this more often.
Blessed Hammer – Limitless: Limitless Hammers spinning around the screen killing everything in sight? What more could you ask for?
Iron Skin – Flash: Defensive skills are very important when not using a defensive gem. Flash will allow you to move even faster.
Akarat’s Champion – Prophet: Well naturally you want a 50% damage reduction and CC immunity. Because who wouldn’t?
Provoke – Too Scared to Run: Essential for Wrath generation along with adding CC to your enemies, this is a must have for most Crusader builds.
Laws of Valor – Critical: And somewhere in here has to be some damage boost. Use this any chance you get.
Passives
Indestructible: Cheat death, used along with Prophet and you have double the cheat deaths!
Blunt: Hammers become better Hammers because they are less sharp? Yup!
Finery: Simple, but powerful, this can be a huge damage jump.
Holy Cause: Keeping this will be important as the lack of a Molten Wildebeest’s Gizzard leaves a hole for recovery.
Stats Preferences
Cooldown Reduction>Critical Hit Chance%/Damage%>All Resist>Life%/Vitality>Life per Fury
More cooldown means you can Falling Sword and Akarat’s Champion much more often. Life per Fury will be important to make up for not having a lot of Life per Second from the Molten Wildebeest’s Gizzard.
Items
Core:
Seeker of the Light: Use all 6 pieces here to make you the most powerful holy warrior you could be.
Gabriel’s Vambraces: Wrath regen is usually the limiter for Crusader builds, especially against single target. These will remedy that situation.
The Witching Hour: More critical damage means the faster you slaughter the demons. Simple.
Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac and Unity: Obsidian is a mainstay in any cooldown based builds, while Unity may be replaced with a Rogar’s Huge Stone or Bul-Kathos’s Wedding Band in a group setting.
Johanna’s Argument: More attack speed means more hammers, effectively doubling your kill speed.
Guard of Johanna: Another good gap to fill when it comes to single target damage.
Kanai’s Cube:
The Furnace: MOAR DAMAGE!
Hexing Pants of Mr. Yan: Studder step your way across the field while using these to get the most damage output.
Convention of Elements: Everybody’s favorite ring, what DPS build doesn’t use this?
Legendary Gems:
Bane of the Stricken: A fantastic single target increase, particularly against the main targets of your rifting.
Bane of the Trapped: Possibly the most powerful gem in the game, this is almost always a must for DPS builds.
Gogok of Swiftness: More attack speed, more cooldown, sooooo of course more damage.
Each week, we will be featuring a different build for a different class, rotating through to spread the love around. If you have a cool build that you are using and would like to share with the community, send it over to my email: threedaysjpt@blizzpro.com. Send me pictures, notes, items, skills, everything!
Guys, I wanted to know where could this build fit in the actual meta. I know it can’t compete with the HoTA barb or static charge monk, but which class slot should I trade for this (in the meta)?
