The Horadrim Corner: Group Heal Monk

by - 9 years ago

Welcome to the Horadrim Corner! Come gather by the fire and talk about the builds you all want to see! Let the ancient knowledge of the Horadrim assist your quest for greatness as you slaughter the demons that stand in your way. For all that is good, build yourself into a warrior worthy of Pandemonium!

Allo Allo! And welcome to yet another edition of the Horadrim Corner. With some of the recent changes to crowd control, many people were wondering if support builds were going to fall out of favor since they relied so much on that lockdown of enemies to really perform. But have no fear! The Monk is here! Rather than the traditional CC builds of the past, this Monk build relies on healing and protecting your allies. Now without further ado, here it is:

Monk Heal Skill

Actives

Cyclone Strike – Implosion: Grouping enemies can be one of the greatest ways to help your team get more damage out. This combined with Strongarm Bracers will do nothing but help your team.
Inner Sanctuary – Forbidden Palace: Because who doesn’t want to live in a palace? Coupled together with Vigilance you will be giving your team everything they need.
Epiphany – Desert Shroud: Not only your team’s health is important, but so is yours. You will be on the front line tanking and leading the way, so more survivability is a must.
Mantra of Healing – Sustenance: Probably the most important part of this build, this is what will really keep your team’s health on the up and up.
Blinding Flash – Soothing Light: Mixed together with the Mantra of Healing, your team may never even know what a cheat death passive actually is.
Mystic Ally – Enduring Ally: And the last huge healing part of this build, just take a look at those million’s of healing points per second.

Passives

Beacon of Ytar: Like most support builds CDR will be extremely important.
Harmony: Possibly the best defensive passive in the game, don’t leave home without it.
Chant of ResonanceActivate your Mantra every chance you get to get the most out of it for your whole team.
ResolveWhen pushing those higher rifts you have to reduce the mobs obscene amounts of damage.

Stats Preferences

Cooldown Reduction>Dexterity>Life per Second>Elemental Resistances

As said above, you want CDR with most every support build. Also you will want Life per Second on every piece of gear possible as all of your healing skills are increased based on this stat.

Items

Core:
Inna’s Radiance, Hold, and Vast ExpanseYou just need enough to get the 4-set bonus here to get the most out of your Mantras for the team.
Captain Crimson’s Silk Girdle and ThrustCooldown and defense, what more could you want?
Born’s Furious Wrath and PrivilegeDoes it really need repeated? Cooldown and defense, the heart and soul of a support build. Roll the Furious Wrath until you get one with a lot of defense and roll off the base damage as painful as that seems.
Stormshield: Just a great all around defensive shield popular with so many supports.
The Crudest Boots: Because 2 is better than 1!
Strongarm Bracers:
As you yank in the enemies with your Cyclone Strike this just ups your whole team’s damage.
Hellfire Amulet:
Look for an amulet with Near Death Experience or Unity to fill out your passives.
Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac and Ring of Royal Grandeur
More cooldowns and make the most of your three sets.

Kanai’s Cube:
Vigilance:
Inner Sanctuary has such a long cooldown that this will just keep it out there almost all the time as you wade through the seas.
The Laws of Seph
Keeping your spirit up is real easy when using this.
Oculus Ring: Rings, rings, rings. Everybody loves damage boosts.
Gem of Efficacious ToxinSame old story, more damage for your team with all of the AoE from your skills.
Gogok of Swiftness: And last but not least, of course we have more cooldown.

Each week, we will be featuring a different build for a different class, rotating through to spread the love around. If you have a cool build that you are using and would like to share with the community, send it over to my email: threedaysjpt@blizzpro.com. Send me pictures, notes, items, skills, everything!
