Horadrim Corner: Burning Helltooth Witch Doctor

by - 9 years ago

Welcome to the Horadrim Corner! Come gather by the fire and talk about the builds you all want to see! Let the ancient knowledge of the Horadrim assist your quest for greatness as you slaughter the demons that stand in your way. For all that is good, build yourself into a warrior worthy of Pandemonium!

Allo Allo! And welcome back to the Horadrim Corner, the first of this jam-packed Season 4. With this new season, there are so many possibilities that I couldn’t possibly cover them all, but I will try to show off some of the bigger and better ones around. For this edition, we shall take a look at the Witch Doctor, who got a lot of love this season with Arachyr’s and Helltooth. Here we shall take a look at a fiery version of the Helltooth, complete with zombies and piranhas all around. Through personal use of it, I find it to be a very involved build, no more of those one click to win builds. So if you are looking for a complex build, here you go:

Actives

Zombie Charger – Explosive Beast: While many have been using Zombie Bears here, I personally prefer the range that a flaming zombie dog gives instead. The bears give great AoE, but this gives some of the single target damage that the build is missing.
Firebomb – Pyrogeist: Another supplement for single target damage, this has a surprising range and can hit things quite a far way away from the cast point.
Spirit Walk – Jaunt: Your get out of danger skill, this is a must have in hardcore if you get cornered.
Wall of Death – Fire Wall: Reminiscent of fighting Diablo in the old days, this creates a very wide straight line of fire. Combo with the Helltooth set and this will be a huge AoE killer.
Piranhas – Piranhado: Once you cast your Fire Wall, you can suck up all the enemies right on top of this and watch them burn.
Soul Harvest – Languish: Boosting both offensive and defensive capability, including an armor boost for your intelligence based class, this helps fill a number of holes.

Passives

Jungle Fortitude: 15% damage reduction is huge to make up for the lack of pets to tank for you in this build.
Spirit VesselNaturally you want this to help save your life, while at the same time reducing your Spirit Walk cooldown for even more safety.
Swampland Attunement: Nothing like a defense boost when you need it most, in those huge crowds.
Grave InjusticeThis will make up for the long cooldowns included in many of the skills, also making rift guardians with add’s your best clears.

Stats Preferences

Intelligence>Cooldown Reduction>Armor>% Fire Damage>Life%/Vitality

With so much of the damage inherently part of the build, the only extra need may be some extra cooldown reduction to supplement Grave Injustice in 1 on 1 fights.

helltooth

Items

Core:
Helltooth HarnessNaturally you will be needing all 6 pieces of this, removing the use of RoRG to fulfill the bonus.
Belt of TranscendenceEven better then Fetish Sycophants, you will have an army behind you in no time.
Jeram’s BracersMore Fire Walls! The new bracers of this patch are what make the build truly powerful.
Burning Axe of Sankis: An often forgotten weapon, the passive on this is equivalent to the Barbarian’s Ignore Pain and offers some great defense.
Henri’s PerquisitionKitty! This cute new addition is another great defense utility item along with being the greatest thing to ever be on a stick.
Convention of Elements: Everybody’s favorite ring, you can’t go without this if you wanna push up high.
Stone of Jordan:
Since we won’t be using The Furnace, this helps make up for the Elite Damage %  you will be missing, along with another elemental damage boost.
Eye of Etlich
Another damage reduction to help you push your way up, this is one of many favorites for this slot.

hell cube

Kanai’s Cube:
Scrimshaw
Chucking flaming zombie dogs just became spammable! Pew Pew!
The Grin Reaper
Each of the mimics do over half of your own damage, and can use all of your skills, allowing essentially double damage with fire burning everywhere.
Element Immunity Amulet:
Using something like a Countess Julia’s or Mara’s Kaleidoscope to further supplement your defense can only help.

Legendary Gems:
Bane of the Trapped
Due to the slows provided by all of your skills thanks to the Necrosis affix of the Helltooth set.
Gem of Efficacious ToxinWith all your AoE, this shall increase both you and your party’s damage against everything.
Molten Wildebeest’s Gizzard: And last but not least is our favorite Molten health regen organ.

Each week, we will be featuring a different build for a different class, rotating through to spread the love around. If you have a cool build that you are using and would like to share with the community, send it over to my email: threedaysjpt@blizzpro.com. Send me pictures, notes, items, skills, everything!
