Diablo 3: One of the Best Selling Games of All Time

by - 9 years ago

During last week’s Blizzard Activision quarterly conference call, it was revealed that Diablo III has now sold 30 million copies. This figure does include copies of Reaper of Souls and lumps all the various PC and console skus together, but it still no small accomplishment.

As reported by Forbes, this places Diablo 3 into the top ten best selling video games of time and, notably, Blizzard’s only entry in this list. That’s right, it’s sold more copies than any of Blizzard’s other games (not counting F2P games like Hearthstone). Flux at Diabloii.net did some digging and found that D3’s numbers have far surpassed sales for the original WoW (expansion sales data proved rather difficult to find reliable sources of figures) and has outdone the entire Starcraft franchise combined. Not bad, given how rocky the game was received at launch, but Reaper of Souls really turned the game around. Who knows how far Diablo still left to go with Patch 2.3 right around the corner and the possibility of an expansion announcement (or something else) at this year’s Blizzcon.
