Ars Arcanum: Pride of Cassius

by - 9 years ago

Books have often been society’s only bastion of light for passing along knowledge that would otherwise be lost to time or convoluted by the oral tradition. In order to provide new and old adventurers with as much knowledge of what to expect on their journey in Sanctuary, we created this tome of knowledge – Ars Arcanum. We will regularly feature a Legendary weapon or armor piece, discussing its stand-alone powers and capabilities, as well as how it may synergize with new builds or other items.

I remember back in the days of Inferno, Ignore Pain was pretty much a must have in your build. Since Inferno difficulty forced you to squeeze out any extra defensive buffs that you possibly could, IP was always a great choice for that extra boost. But ever since the difficulty curve was changed to be less brutal, there wasn’t a huge need for a skill like IP (unless you were playing Hardcore) until the Greater Rift system was implemented. With the help of Pride of Cassius, IP can now offer you a really good survivability boost.

Pride of Cassius

Why is it good?

Pride of Cassius has become a staple in end game Barbarian builds because of the survivability that it offers. It can give you six extra seconds on your IP combined with the default five second duration which adds up to eleven seconds. That’s a pretty good amount of time to have 50% less damage taken and immunity to any control impairing effects plus, over five thousand life per fury spent if you use the Ignorance is Bliss rune. With a 30 second cooldown and the right amount of cooldown reduction, you can have near 100% up time on it which is a very good survivability boost for pushing higher level grifts.

This combo works great for Whirlwind builds because they are by nature very good builds for survivability even without IP. So an item like PoC really gives these builds a huge advantage, especially for solo play. Which is why PoC is the BiS Barbarian belt for end game play and will also be a great item to have for the soon to come torment levels 7-10 in patch 2.3.

Who is it good for?

Since this is a mighty belt, only Barbarians can use it.

Where can I find it?

PoC is not a season exclusive item so it can be found on any mode as long as you have a level 29 character or above.

The Fluff

He moved swiftly and he struck hard. Truly the greatest warrior to have walked the land.

This belt is most likely referencing Cassius Marcellus Clay (Muhammad Ali) and paying homage to one of the greatest heavyweight boxers in sports history.
