The Horadrim Corner: Del’Rasha Wizard

by - 9 years ago

Welcome to the Horadrim Corner! Come gather by the fire and talk about the builds you all want to see! Let the ancient knowledge of the Horadrim assist your quest for greatness as you slaughter the demons that stand in your way. For all that is good, build yourself into a warrior worthy of Pandemonium!

Allo allo! And welcome to another edition of the Horadrim Corner. This week we shall be featuring our favorite elemental master, the Wizard. We shall be using both of the Wizard’s main sets, Tal Rasha’s Elements and Delsere’s Magnum Opus. You get the best of both worlds, with huge CC damage-dealing bubbles and a shower of meteors falling from the sky. With this combination, you may progress high both solo and with a team, while granting both great utility and damage.

Without further ado, here we go:

Wizard delrasha

Actives

Magic Missile – Glacial Spike: Spammable for use when you are low on mana and also a source of CC, this is key to activating your cold meteor.
Teleport – Calamity: As both an engage and disengage, use this along with Aether Walker to activate the arcane meteor.
Black Hole – Supermassive: Used to trigger the lightning meteor, and gathering your enemies will help all of your AoE skills obliterate the battlefield.
Slow Time – Time Warp: In conjunction with the Delsere’s set, this will lay damage and slows across the field, while also giving a boost to all of your damage. The damage type done by the bubbles matches the % Elemental damage from your gear so make sure that fire is the largest to ensure the fire meteor is set off.
Mirror Image – Duplicates: By nature, the Wizard is fairly squishy, so using this will give you more survival in tight situations.
Energy Armor – Force Armor: Eliminating enemies’ one-hit kill potential will help you climb high into rifts.

Passives

Elemental Exposure: Continues the theme of elemental mastery for the Wizard while giving one of the largest damage boosts in the game.
EvocationLower cooldowns mean both more Black Holes and Mirror Images, giving you more of everything you need.
Unstable AnomalyThe wizard’s “cheat death” passive, this is one of the weaker among the classes, but is effectively necessary, especially in Hardcore.
IllusionistSpeed yourself through the enemies while also giving your survival skills more power.

Stats Preferences

Intelligence>Crit Chance/Damage>Armor>Life%/Vitality>Cooldown Reduction>% Fire Damage

Typical damage priorities throughout your gear is all that are necessary. The only thing needed is % Fire Damage on either your amulet or bracers in order to activate all four types of meteors.

Items

Core:
Delsere’s Magnum OpusTo make a total of three pieces, the only required piece will be the Shoulders, while mixing in the other pieces with Tal’Rasha’s.
Tal Rasha’s ElementsThis set will require the Belt, Source, and Amulet, and as said above, the remaining two pieces will be mixed together with Delsere’s.
Nilfur’s BoastArguably the strongest boots in the game, these will make your meteors incredibly destructive.
Aether WalkerGoing POOF POOF around Heaven and Hell may be the most fun way to travel, and this will just let you do it for as long as you have Arcane Power.
Strongarm BracersWith Black Hole this will be activated on most of your enemies, which just gives you another way to up your kill speed.
Ring of Royal GrandeurUsing two sets will obviously require the use of this, as you want the 4-piece bonus of Delsere’s and the 6-piece of Tal Rasha’s.
Convention of ElementsBeing the only class that can efficiently make full use of every element, this ring seems to be designed almost specifically for the Wizard and ties in wonderfully with this multi-elemental build.

Legendary Gems:
Molten Wildebeest’s Gizzard
Seemingly the best defensive gem in the game, as survival is always the best option.
Gem of Efficacious Toxin: Using AoE skills allows this to affect all the enemies, making it perfect for both solo and team play.
Bane of the Trapped: Slow bubbles mean CC, allowing you to activate this powerful gem even from at range.

Each week, we will be featuring a different build for a different class, rotating through to spread the love around. If you have a cool build that you are using and would like to share with the community, send it over to my email: threedaysjpt@blizzpro.com. Send me pictures, notes, items, skills, everything!

I am interested in using this. I don’t see any suggestions for cube powers. I assume I can cube the RORG so I could use Focus and Restraint?
