The Horadrim Corner: Epiphany Support Monk

by - 9 years ago

Welcome to the Horadrim Corner! Come gather by the fire and talk about the builds you all want to see! Let the ancient knowledge of the Horadrim assist your quest for greatness as you slaughter the demons that stand in your way. For all that is good, build yourself into a warrior worthy of Pandemonium!

Allo Allo! Here we are at another edition of Horadrim Corner, this week featuring the Shaolin Warrior, the Monk. With the latest news from Heroes of the Storm, including the addition of the Monk as a hero, it seems the perfect time to highlight a Support Monk build for Diablo itself. Like many other support builds, it revolves around high defense, lots of crowd control, and increasing your team’s damage. It also achieves a highly sought after goal, permanent Epiphany. Now without further ado, here it is:

Actives

Crippling Wave – Breaking Wave: A great AoE skill that also increases the damage of your whole team.
Cyclone Strike – Implosion: Spammity spam spam spam this skill. Working like a vacuum sucking up enemies, this is going to be your main spender.
Epiphany – Desert Shroud: Dashing across the field in a blur of untouchable amazingness, this mimics the effect of a Unity along with giving great mobility.
Inner Sanctuary – Forbidden Palace: Combining team defense and offense, this does a little bit of everything and should be used at every opportunity.
Dashing Strike – Blinding Speed: Both an escape and engage/exploration skill, this can help you get away or get in the middle to start tanking for your team.
Mantra of Conviction – Dishearten: Kill power up and a slow aura to help proc your team’s Bane of the Trapped.

Passives

Exalted SoulYou will be needing lots of Spirit to yank all of those enemies in with your Cyclone Strike.
Beacon of YtarThe Monk’s cheat death; does any more need to be said?
Sixth Sense: One of the best defensive skills in the game, just a simple damage reduction.
HarmonyTo pair with Sixth Sense, the other best defensive skill, a huge increase into All Resist.

Stats Preferences

In order to make this build possible you will need a minimum of 60% CDR, combining with In-Geom and the Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac to allow for permanent Epiphany.

In-GeomIn a good rift, this alone may be enough to satisfy your cooldowns.
Countess Julia’s CameoWith a large number of Rift Guardians being poison, this has become the best defensive amulet around.
Ring of Royal GrandeurWearing three different sets naturally requires you to wear this infamous ring.
Obsidian Ring of the ZodiacAnd to round it all out….more CDR!
