Diablo II Ladder Reset Next Week

by - 9 years ago

Coming next week, on Nov. 25th the Diablo II Ladders will be reset.

While the D2 ladders have been resetting every six months for a few years now, this reset has a lot of players of the classic game excited. Why?

A large number of exploits were fixed earlier this year and many players are expecting this to be one of the best Ladders ever. While it’s always unknown if there are other exploits lurking in the wild, the vast majority of duping methods and an exploit that caused server crashes have been eliminated.

Archon, Leviathan, and I also plan on starting up some new characters for this reset for a special episode of Westmarch Workshop and will be inviting listeners of the show to come and play with us on stream. We don’t have exact details just yet on when this stream will take place, but make sure to check back for more details on how you can participate.

It’s that time again! On the morning of Tuesday, November 25, we’ll be conducting maintenance in order to reset the Diablo II ladder. We anticipate the realms could be down for up to six hours, and during that time all existing ladder characters will be converted to non-ladder. All characters and items being converted to non-ladder will remain intact, but once converted these characters will no longer have access to ladder content such as ladder-only rune words.

This ladder reset, like all those before it, creates a clean slate where all ladder characters begin at level 1 with no previous items to help them. To participate, simply wait until the Diablo II realms return to service on November 25, log in to Battle.net, and select the “Ladder Character” checkbox when creating a new character. You can track ladder character leveling progress by clicking on the Ladder button from the main Diablo II in-game Battle.net interface.

I re-installed D2 and LoD just to remember what it was like after this post. It has definitely been a while. I hadn’t even remembered that you’re really stuck with just the two clicks and need the function keys to change skills! So bizarre!

How about clicking on gold? That was one of the biggest readjustments for me. Also funny to have potion management again.
