DR23: Hey there Nano! First of all, thanks for taking the time to do this, do you think we could start off by introducing you to our readers.

NC: Hello to everyone, I’m Nalan Tarhan from İstanbul, Turkey! And thanks for having me.

DR23: Turkey, how interesting. I’ve covered a few Blizzard related cosplays and I love how we get to meet a lot of international people. Anyway, How did you get started on the Cosplay World?

NC: I started Cosplaying in 2010 and keep doing costumes occasionally. I’ve always dreamed of making costumes, so I decided to take cosplaying as a hobby.  I’m trying to make characters from the games I play and love.
My first Cosplay was in a 2012 Medieval Festival with a Witch Elf Costume of my own design, which also happened to be the first time I took the 1st place in a Cosplay Contest. After that I had my other ranks with  Edea Kramer from Final Fantasy VIII, Big Sister from Bioshock2, and the Crusader that you can see in the photos.
I wore the Crusader costume in Kontakt 5 event which happened late last week in Istanbul. I won the Best Craft and Ladies’ Best Video Game Cosplay awards.

DR23: What about your future? Are you planning to compete in different countries? What’s the next Convention you’ll be a part off?

NC: To be honest, I don’t have much chance to go abroad. I wish I could have more opportunity for comfortably being a part of other cons. Of course, what future holds in unknown. For now, I’m participating in events taking place in my own city and country.

DR23: That’s sad to hear, more people deserve to see your talents. Now, the Crusader is pretty new as a playable character in the Diablo Universe. It debuted this year with the Reaper of Souls expansion pack, was Diablo 3 your first Diablo Game?

NC: No it wasn’t, I’ve actually been playing the Diablo series since the first one came out. The old Diablo games were some of my childhood’s favorites for my and my big brother. Needlessly to say, we were pretty excited about the third installment of the series. My favorite class from the older games was the Amazon, but right now, it’s a three way tie between the Wizard, Demon Hunter, and Crusader. Because of my continuous indecisiveness of items and specs, it’s fair to say that most of time I’m hanging on to my enjoyment.

DR23:  Is that cosplay based on a particular transmog set? The armor and shield look pretty familiar to me.

NC: Yes it is, it’s the Crusader from the first Reaper of Souls Gameplay Trailer. With the Royal Shield, Shredder, etc…

DR23: Wow, how could I forget. That’s like the default Crusader Armor that appears in most Blizzard Pages. Speaking of Blizzard, is one of your goals participating from the BlizzCon Cosplay Contest? Do you play many Blizzard Games?

NC: Yes, I do play Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm and formerly WoW.  Right now, I am planning to cosplay Tyrande Whisperwind. As soon as I choose one of the skins from Heroes of the Storms, I’ll be starting on it.
I really wanted to attend Blizzcon, and I still do, but when I read in the application form that they don’t accept any competitors from Turkey, I got very upset. Maybe in the future?

Crusader-4

DR23: Those pictures look amazing, and the scenery is pretty fitting. Where’d you take them and who’s the talented artist behind the camera?

NC: Thanks for the kind comments! These photos have been taken by Altuğ İşler at Kontakt 5 event and are very beautiful.

DR23: What’s next after that Crusader? Are you working on anything new at the moment?

NC: Besides the Tyrande that I talked about earlier, I’m also working on Darkflame Shyana from League of Legends, there also a third one I’m planning to do before the year ends but I cannot reveal it yet, all I can say is that its going to be pretty challenging.  Those who want to know more about me and my work can follow me on Facebook and Deviant Art. There you can see all my past work, the works in progress, and learn about what’s next for me.

Crusader-3

Once again I want to thank you for sharing your experience with us, we can’t wait to see your Tyrande Costume!

NC: It was my pleasure, Thank you so very much for your interest!
