Ars Arcanum: Pride’s Fall

by - 10 years ago

Books have often been society’s only bastion of light for passing along knowledge that would otherwise be lost to time or convoluted by the oral tradition. In order to provide new and old adventurers with as much advance knowledge of what to expect when their journey in Sanctuary continues forward into Westmarch and Pandemonium Fortress this March once Reaper of Souls is officially released, we decided to create this tome of knowledge – Ars Arcanum. A new Legendary weapon or armor piece will be featured, discussing its stand-alone powers and capabilities, as well as how it may synergize with new builds or other items.

Ever since 2.0 hit live servers the item game has changed. While Crit, Crit Damage, and Attack Speed are still incredibly powerful they are no longer always the best stats for every single build. One of the new affixes, Resource Cost Reduction (RCR), has become one of the most important stats for a wide range of builds. This week’s focus will be on Pride’s Fall, a powerful and unique legendary helm that offers up a health dose of RCR… For a price.

Prides Fall

Why is it good?

Pride’s Fall is legendary helm that always rolls with four static affixes. With the helm always rolling one primary stat, vitality, and crit chance it cuts down on a lot of the RNG associated with finding a good helm. While the set attributes will likely end up making this a great item regardless of whether you can make use of it’s unique property or not, it is it’s legendary affix that sets it apart from other helms.

Pride’s Fall grants the wearer 30% RCR whenever they’ve not taken any damage in the last five seconds. While melee classes will rarely be able to benefit from this proc many ranged classes will be capable of keeping the buff up for extended periods of time, greatly increasing their offensive might.

Who is it good for?

By and far, ranged classes will make the most use of this helm, melee classes will just be in the thick of things too often make much use of the buff. CA DH’s or resource hungry Wizard builds can never have enough RCR and this is a great starter item to get them going.

Where can I find it?

If you’re looking to get your hands on this item you’ll need to head into Adventure Mode and start knocking out bounties. Pride’s Fall can be found in the Act 3 & 4 Horadric Cache rewards.
