Legendary Drop Rate Buff Here To Stay

by - 10 years ago

Diablo 3’s anniversary week brought the goods, including a tremendous Livestream with CMs, Devs and awesome guests like BlizzPro’s own Neinball and Archon.

But maybe more importantly for the players, we got a big buff that doubled both our Legendary item droprate and Rift Keystone acquisition. The community recieved this buff with open arms, relishing the opportunity to go out hunting for Legendaries. Everything was all fine and dandy until we collectively realized we would be losing this great buff in just a few days. The community response was loud, clear and most importantly everywhere.

The uproar took over Twitter, Reddit and every Diablo community you can imagine. From simple observations that the game was more enjoyable thanks to the buff and all the way to outright threats of quitting the game if we lost the buff. It looked like everyone was clamoring for the Legendary buff to stay and sure enough, after a tense couple of days Blizzard delivered in spades via the following announcement from Game Designer Travis Day:

Hello folks,

I come bearing exciting news. Due to the overwhelming popularity of our Anniversary buff we have decided to keep the increased Legendary drop rate once the Anniversary celebration ends. Once the buff is disabled tomorrow morning, you will find that the new base line drop rates for Legendary items will be the same as those you have all enjoyed for the last week.

Happy hunting and link the loot!

I sincerely hope that everyone can put this Legendary buff to good use and get as many gear upgrades as possible. If you happen to get an exceptionally good item be sure to submit it to the Westmarch Workshop Item of the Week at westmarchworkshop@blizzpro.com
